Our family does several camping trips per year and this summer we took the ferry to Ruckle Provincial Park on Salt Spring Island, B.C. where we not only camped but took a side trip into Ganges.
For us camping comes as naturally as riding a bike. We are not back country campers nor are we "glampers". We fall somewhere in the happy middle and I can tell you that no matter which of these categories you fall under, Abeego can be your new, camping best friend!
In the distant past when planning a camping trip we would wrap our cheese in plastic wrap thinking that this was the best way to store it. This would lead to sweaty cheese from lack of airflow which is very unbecoming of the cheese. Since discovering Abeego and it's antibacterial and food preserving properties we have changed the way we camp, not only for food preservation but the versatility of the product. Abeego shows us that it has oodles of functions that plastic wrap just doesn't match.
We took the a Giant Flat, the Variety pack which includes a small, medium and large size flat and an assortment of older, well used, but still completely functional, medium sized flats. Because Abeego is made using beeswax, which repels water, we had no hesitation in wrapping and storing our food in the cooler which was full of ice and moisture.
Abeego is made with hemp and organic cotton which, in conjunction with the beeswax and resins that make it the durable product that it is, makes it a very protective layer. Our food remained protected from the water and ice and also received no damage from the other items stored in our cooler. Much tougher than a flimsy piece of plastic!
I referenced Abeego's instructional video "Packet for Peppers" to create the perfect home for my camping veggies using the large flat. This formed a water tight protective layer around my assortment of crunchy snacks. We had a picnic on our second day camping and when we opened up our packet, everything was the same freshness and condition as the day I packed it a couple of days prior.
The cheese was just as easy to wrap: we placed our cheese on an Abeego Flat, folded in the sides and then the top. The best part? No sweaty cheese! The thing I love the most about Abeego is how flexible and malleable it is and once it's folded, everything just sticks and stays.
I used the giant flat all over the place from bowl covers to a mock place-mat for my lap as I ate. We also used Abeego to wrap sandwiches and leftovers. The small flat was used to wrap half of an onion which also prevented any odors from sneaking out and I even used a flat to make a packet for my tea bags which I didn't want to get wet.
Another useful product offered by Abeego is their Abeego Twist Ties. These things are magic! The best use of Abeego Twist Ties on this camping trip was to secure a mock sun shade to our mosquito tent.
The sun came in at just an angle that the tent didn't block it and I felt my arm starting to
burn. I took a couple of Abeego Twist Ties, wrapped them around each corner of my shawl and secured it to the tent. It worked like a charm! Even in the heat the ties did not come undone and they did not leave residue on my shawl.
We used Abeego Twist Ties to close up random bags and, at one point, to secure my braid when a hair tie couldn't be found. I highly recommend keeping them and the flats as a permanent tool not only for camping but in the home as well!
When camping we are getting back to nature. Abeego helps us to maintain our level of respect for nature by providing us with a natural, biodegradable and sustainable product that leaves us with no concern about invading our environment.
