The Abeego Test Kitchen | How to Store & Save Food

Abeego Test Kitchen | Keep Food Alive | Food Tests | Beeswax Wrap Test kitchen

Welcome to the Abeego Test Kitchen!

It’s here where we put Abeego to the test on your favorite foods and share the results, from days-old green avocado halves to still-crunchy romaine lettuce. Why? Because we’re passionate about empowering you with the ability to save your own food.

THE SPIRIT OF EXPLORATION

We don’t know everything! To gain a deeper understanding of our food and how it acts in Abeego, we always have an experiment on the go. We compare what happens in airtight containers or food left unprotected to see what happens in various conditions and the difference Abeego makes. We study smell, taste, appearance, weight, texture and really get to know our food and share our findings with you.

In turn, we deeply value the experiences of our community in learning, too! Our Avocado Expedition sees Abeego Explorers out in the world, testing and sharing their own food findings. Because when you learn, we learn.

KEEP FOOD ALIVE FOR A FOOD SECURE WORLD

At Abeego, our mission is to Keep Food Alive for a Food Secure World and it’s the deeper why behind our test kitchen. We’ve been sold on tools marketed to us to keep food fresh when the opposite is true. The result of poor food storage (such as airtight containers) has resulted in increased food waste to a point where it has become normal and even expected.

We recognize that nature already knows how to preserve itself, so we followed its lead and harnessed the best aspects of every peel, skin and rind in our beeswax food wraps. Our food tests demonstrate food freshness through the lens of how nature saves your food so you can see how proper food storage gives you the power to save your food in your own kitchen like never before.

Your saved avocado half and fully used bunch of cilantro makes a big contribution to waste reduction. Factor in bee pollination, labor, irrigation, storage, and transportation  associated with your lettuce lost to the compost. There’s a lot of resources under that compost pile, including your own time and hard-earned dollars!

Did you know that if we ended food waste at the household level globally we’d see an 8% reduction in carbon emissions annually, equivalent to taking 495 million cars off the road! Ending food waste in North America alone would result in enough food to feed 112 million people for a full year.

This change is at our fingertips in our own kitchens. Together, we’re making a big impact, one wrap at a time.

REIGNITE FOOD WISDOM

It all comes back to our Keep Food Alive Manifesto to reignite the intimacy between ourselves and our natural world.

Abeego disrupts food-saving misinformation to show you that the power to save food rests in your hands by following nature’s lead. When we take care of our food, our food takes care of us.
