Abeego in Living, Breathing Kitchens
One of our favorite impacts to date has been seeing the change in our community’s expectations of food.
For years, we have been conditioned to expect a halved avocado to turn brown if we don’t eat it within an hour after slicing and herbs to fall limp if we try to incorporate them into anything beyond tonight’s dinner.
With Abeego and its protective, breathable, and opaque traits, we finally have access to the tools to expect a different outcome for the food in our fridge. The Abeego community now looks forward to unwrapping green & vibrant avocado, perky & fragrant herbs, and bread as fresh as fresh-baked.
Even with these newfound expectations to find fresh living food, the delight of unwrapping Abeego never gets old. We know our lemon will be juicy & zesty after ten days easily, yet we still sigh in relief and do the happy dance when we discover it.
Our internal Slack channel is littered with kitchen photos and anecdotes from the team.
Even our Founder & Inventor of beeswax food wrap, Toni Desrosiers, still gets the “Abeego rush.”
What’s even more exhilarating? When we see others unwrap fresh food from their Abeego, too!
Don’t take our word for it. See how kitchens around the globe are utilizing Abeego to embrace a living, breathing kitchen.
WHEN LIFE GIVES YOU LEMONS, WRAP THEM IN ABEEGO
Wrapped in an Abeego Small, your citrus will have a whole new zest for life.
See how @katiemuise13 perfectly preserves a lime for 10 days? And how @notrealsherin unwraps a lemon after one week and then again after… drum roll please… three weeks?!
It’s natural for the surface of the fruit to slowly dry (this is the citrus creating a new skin to protect itself - cool, hey?!). Simply slice a thin layer of the surface, and it will be juicy, flavorful, and ready to garnish a cocktail!
PRESERVE CUT VEGGIES & FRUITS
With Abeego, sliced foods are a slice!
@theecofam unwraps Abeego after 8 days to find this plump & juicy tomato begging to be devoured, and @asliceofgreen protects the sliced end of a cucumber while letting it breathe.
Halve your food and eat it, too.
YOUR ADVENTURE SIDEKICK
Outdoor snacks are better with Abeego. Plastic-free, light as a feather, and packing down to nearly nothing, fold a Large or Medium into a pouch to hold trail mix or wrap a sandwich in a Large for your mid-hike lunch.
@anisetozaatar protects and enjoys chiffon cake with a jaw-dropping view, and @rocky.mountain.rising contains some adventure-fueling snacks.
HERBS LIVE BEYOND A WEEK? YOU BET!
There’s something about the victory of saving herbs. @chelsearosewoods unwraps bright & perky cilantro after 3 weeks, and @foodwastefeast unveils a variety of beautiful herbs from a week ago!
Full of nutrients and flavor, these punch-packing greens are too often tossed, or avoided altogether, due to their delicate nature.
“It’s a shame herbs have been reduced to just a garnish,” says Toni Desrosiers, Abeego Founder, CEO & someone who packs her daily smoothie with bunches of parsley.
With Abeego, let your herbs live life as more than a garnish! Burrito-wrap them in a Large Abeego and they’ll be vibrant and nutritious for longer than ever imagined.
As a Mom, @thescrappymamablog is all too familiar with the struggle of random half-eaten fruits and veggies. Check out this perfectly preserved banana that was wrapped in the Abeego Small. It’s ready for another snack time!
Did we ever tell you about the time we left a banana in Abeego and it started to ferment? Check it out here. Digging into all of the different ways in which food behaves is our jam!
